Hello! I’m Melanie Knight, the owner of Starry Knight Design, Inc. Since 2008, I’ve been crafting unique, high-quality leather soft-soled shoes for little ones—from tiny babies to big kids. What began as a small business I ran during nap time has blossomed into the primary source of income for my family of six, as well as a way to support women in our community in Corvallis, MT.
Our shoes are made from premium leather and suede, designed with elastic-sewn backs to keep them securely on even the most active, squirmy feet without being restrictive. We offer a wide variety of styles and colors to suit every taste, including loafers, moccasins, T-straps, sunrise sandals, Sequoia sandals, Mary Janes, Two-Two loafers, design shoes, Scout booties, as well as purses and headbands.
Starry Knight Design soft-soled shoes are perfect for babies who are starting to crawl, offering both comfort and balance as they begin to walk. They also make ideal house slippers for bigger kids, providing support while remaining soft and flexible.

Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond sourcing. We work tirelessly to minimize waste by creatively reusing leather scraps in our designs. Even the smallest pieces are transformed into unique products. Additionally, we donate leather remnants to local schools and organizations, where they are used in educational projects with children. We also offer bags of scrap leather to local entrepreneurs, supporting small businesses and reducing waste through upcycling.

All of our products are handmade in the U.S. by an incredible team of independent seamstresses, ensuring each item is crafted with care and precision. We make everything to order, reducing overproduction and excess inventory. Any items exchanged or mis-made are resold at a discount, ensuring nothing goes to waste.
